Austrian - Bon apetit

Today I was again slow in the morning. It is becoming a bad habit. It feels like I waste time especially before noon. I woke up around 9:30. I opened the window and filled the room with cold fresh air. I lied in my warm bed and enjoyed the difference in temperature and maybe dreamt a bit about Finland. Then I entered the kitchen/common room with plans of preparing and eating breakfast. Before even starting I got stuck infront of the stereo and programmed in the radiochannels. I found a celtic channel and there was a Ceilidh piece coming. Samuel and me danced for a minute and listened astonished to the lady in the radio speaking celtic. Then I started preparing. I had no juice and only two slices of ham. I ate musli and bread and drank tea. I went back to my room and wrote a polite email to my bank in Finland. Then I took a shower, dressed ate a tin of tomate soup. From there I continued to Old Dumbarton road to cut my hair for the first time here. I entered and the only barber was cutting of dark hair from a foreign head. I sat down and read a bad newspaper and EU-law. Then they were ready and I sat down. The barber didnt understand what I meant with.
-Shorter but the same style with a local touch.
-What is a local touch, he asked
Go figure you artist, I tought.
He started. Soon he got annoyed by the amount of hair that was situated on my head. The scissors and comb got stuck in it. Once he cut my air and I heard how he grasped for air. We had a jagged conversation. He was from Algeria and I was from Finland and the name of the barbershop was Yorkshire barbers. Globalized, the world is. When ready I stood up and walked to the table where payments were arranged.
- Six pound
- I tought it was four for students. There is a sign outside
- Yes, but you had so much hair.
Students have only short hair I tought but was quiet. I left the building not very happy. Therefore I will never go again to the Yorkshire barbers on Old Dumbarton road.
With a head smelling of gel I continued to uni and floor seven of the main library. In there I was from 2 to 7. At 7 I walked home through a dark West End. Marco had sent earlier a message that Hubert, our neighbour was serving dinner today. At 7:25 I rang the doorbell and entered. The door was open. At flat H there were already Hubert and his mother and sister plus on of each country Germany, China, Italy, Hungary, Canada and me. Huberts mother had made some delicious food. Greacy fat meat prepared for four hours. With central european "knödels" and potatoes and "kraut" sallad. It was so good and different from what I had been eating since I came here or in my life. I thanked for food after a conversation. Me and Samuel returned.
Yesterday was Monday. I had saved a bit too much reading for the morning. I read and walked to uni. I participated as usual and the class was laughing. After the lecture I walked to the library and stayed there until 5:30. I bought some bananas and milk from Iceland and walked home. I made hamburgers and chips. Homemade and delicious a la Elias. At the table I spilled a whole glass of milk over the table and the first issue of Kirkkonummi municipal library magazine. I finished and returned to my room and searched for a birthday present for myself. I found the perfect thing. I drank a cup of tea with Samuel and Fernando and went to bed.
On Sunday I felt tired and ill. I had a cold. I watched to films and wasn´t outside on the whole day. Starwars and Under Siege. It was a day of flu.
On Saturday I stayed for some time at the library studying. At 9 pm when Fernando returned from Edinburgh from a Judo competition party arrangements took place. We were going to celebrate Fer`s 20 years. At ten it started. People came and the flat was filled. About 40 people in very small commonroomkitchen. At 1:20. The senior recident of duty entered our flat(we dont know who let him in). He said if we stopped the party now we wouldn´t be held accountable for this and all future partied were forbidden. So the people had to leave. I started cleaning and at 3:30 I had had a shower and entered my bed.
On friday I was on the most intersting lecture of life. Actually it was a debate. The main guest was Martti Koskenniemi author of the From Apology to Utopia. It was raining when I walked to the Wolfson Medical Building on University Avenue. The morning I hade been reading some preparatory reading. The lecturing was outstanding and the opposing contributions were sharp. I have never been so interested in International law in my life. After the event wine was served. I managed to talk a bit with Martti in finnish and english. It was a big day but right now I`ve written so much that I cant be bothered to be enthusiastic enough. Friday night was just home staying.
On Thursday I had classes . I had again saved to much reading for the morning. I went to the lecture and it was overwhelmingly interesting. I walked home. At 7:30 a couple of firemen had a info about firesafety at K-Street. From there I hurried to the reading group at Queen Margaret. It was just planning for ten minutes. Then we played pool at Joes bar. On my way home I met the usual gang, Andrea, Davide, etc. I walked with them to the Primary for the international society pubnight. I had a long discussion with an Italian girl who was studying in Brussels. Then I walked home speaking finnish with the finnsih teology-student. Now, best friends, we are updated.
On Wednesday I prepared for coming classes on Thursday.
