Late answer - Christmas here
H;
I apologise for the quiet moment. Don´t be embarrassed. Let me begin. Merry Christmas!
Yesterday 30.11 was Samuel´s birthday. I woke up at 10:30 after the pub night at the train station pub Primary. I had breakfast and went to the library. I read Labour law from 12:15 - 17:15. Be happy parents. In the library I found a student card. I looked around and saw a girl that resembled of the girl on the picture on the card. I asked her and gave it to her because she wanted it.
At home I composed. I have luckily started to get a routine of recording stuff I play. I had for the first time my culinary speciality in Scotland, Fish finger sandwich. It was OK, not that good. At 11 Andrea(girl), Blandine and me started walking to the Queen Margaret Union for the Cheese Pop meat market. Later Fernando, Andrea(boy), Marco and Samuel came. We danced and had fun. I was nackered and we walked home at 2:30. Had a shower and went to my lovely bed. I slept very well
29 Was a Thursday. I remember I had a very short night. From 3:30 to 9:30. I went early to the library and revised before class. Mr Akbar Rasulovs lecture was awesome as usual. His last monologue was quite something. He said this course could have been about discussing some contemporary problems such Guantanamo, China and Human right, but it would have been boring. Instead he introduced us to for paradigms of the International law and how these work. This enables us to critically follow the international law debate and understand how various arguments are constructed and on what paradigm they are based. Then we know as well how to sink the arguments by sticking the knife in the weak spots. We were never looking for the truth, but how people try to convince us about the truth. I say it has been the best course in my life. After the lecture I met Andrea(boy) and we went to the Royal Bank of Scotland to sort out his bank problems. I was very useful. We went from there to Somerfield and bought some posh food(milk, minced meat and bread). Somerfield is posh compared to Lidl. We walked home. I cleaned the flat with much energy. It was useful because recently I have tried to keep my mind preoccupied for not thinking about unpleasant things. The flat was shiny. I had a great dinner with Tortillas and for dessert Simpsons. At 9:30 we started are walk in rain to the Primary. There were less people than usual. I join our regular table with Clara, Sara, Andrea(girl), Gianfranco, Blandine, Hubert, Steve, Fernando, Marco and so on. Four pints for six pounds. I didn´t drink them on my own. At 12:30 we walked home. When we came to the dark Kelvinhaugh Street under the heavy rainclouds Samuel greeted us by screaming at us from the window at the third floor. We Sand happy birthday in the street very loud because it was already 30.11. Samuel was now 22. Sara, Clara, Blandine, Loik, Andrea(girl), Samuel, Fernando and me celebrated his birthday with Cranberry juice, Coca-Cola, milk, chocolate, Kinder Bueno and traditional Scottish short bread. I played Irwin Goodman which caused reactions. Then I played Bo Kaspers Orkester to play some Swedish music. They likeed BKO and hate Irwin Goodman, that is they like Swedish and dislike Finnish. At 2:30 they left and I was ready for baby.. I mean my bed.
28 Already, my memory start to fail me. After 5 minutes of thinking I now remember some things. I woke up and ate breakfast. I went to Queen Margaret Union for meeting Elizabeth. It was pouring down with rain. We sat down in the Quodos and she read through my work. The following session was very useful. Like having a private teacher. From there I walked to uni and surfed and studied a while. At 2:30 I met Conrad and We walked to the river to SECC, Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and bought to ticket to Bloc Party. The best band ever founded. I am excited. 12 or 11 November. We walked home and I said bon voyage. He was going to Austria for the week-end. I stayed at home the rest of the evening and experienced the worst thing in my life so far on MSN Messenger. I was awake until 3:30 and was mentally supported by my kind flatmates. It was so bad.
27 Tuesday is very far away. I felt much better this day. I went to uni and read law. I wrote the text that was checked by Elizabeth. At that time I was late for the photo sharing evening in KS 53 C. I marched home. Took a banana, Macbook and pen drive. We shared photos from Newcastle. Conrad served tea in a Christmas decorated flat. Spruce twigs, oranges, nuts, and small figure. Everything from Germany sent by Conrad´s mother. Then he served me some German ham and sausage, all very delicious. The rest of the night I spent in my flat thinking about the deep mysteries of life.
26 Monday, I had lectures from 11-3 as usual. We had a presentation about the European Parliament. It was pretty forward. Our group consisted of one Czech, Italian, Spaniard and me. We did an OK presentation. I had a cold so I was tires. Immediately after the lectures I walked home and dug myself down in the bed. It was relaxing. The whole evening. I didn´t go to the first board meeting of the Eng Lit Soc.
25 So far I am surprised. I remember everything pretty well. Sunday was a rich day in many a way. I woke up early with the birds. I ate a toast covered with a whole thin of beans in tomato sauce. I made a small lunch box. And ran out. This trip was going to be bigger. We were about 20 persons. We took taxis to the Queen station and jumped on the train. We saw the pink sunrise. So romantic we thought; Anna, Conrad and I. In Edinburgh we changed trains to the Flying Scotsman(Not really) to London Kings Cross. First Conrad realised he forgot his jacket. Then he realised he forgot his scarf. We travelled and admired the beautiful east coast with the sea, sheep and green yellow fields. We discussed some geographical phenomena. Two and half hours later we arrived to Newcastle and England. The oldest train station covered in a steel constructed construction. It was Conrad´s first time in England. It was cleaned, bigger and wealthier and easier to understand in terms of linguistic matters. We walked to the tourist office. We learned a Finnish girl worked there. In Costa we drank coffee and planed the day. Was it going to be the Angel of North, one of the seven wonders of the UK. We thought it was funny. Or should we choose the Hadrian´s wall. We decided to check to wall. At this time we were only four left. The rest of the company had disappeared. We walked to the train station and bought tickets to Hexham. Before getting on the train we checked out the Chinatown. It was one street. The toaster was broken in Subway so Conrad got a cold sandwich. In the train sounding like a tractor we ate are pretty lunch boxes like boys and girls in the first year. Apples, Sandwiches, Water, Grapefruit, chocolate, crisps and sweets. Forty minutes later we were in Hexham. A small half dead place with an Abbey as the single sight. We walked to the tourist office. It was closed. The bus service didn´t drive anymore to the wall. It was to late in the autumn. A cafe owner gave us a couple of numbers for taxis. We wondered outside what we should do. After a while he came out again and said he will take us there. He started by cleaning his car for five minutes. In the trunk he had some tools. Drills, saws and hammers. The Germans, Anna and Conrad got scared. After the procedure we jumped in. First some petrol from a station. Then we sat about 20 minutes in his Peugeot. I thought I would ask why he did drive a French car but I didn´t. 20 minutes later we stopped in the foggy middle of nowhere. He said he will wait for half an hour in the cafe. We walked fast. It was quite far away. We saw sheep and fog. On the top of the hill on the wall. The view was best. We first looked towards England then Scotland and I would have liked to be there 1500 years earlier. It was nice indeed. We walked on the wall and took pics. Then we marched back. Back in the car. He drove a bit further to show us a place where a film was recorded, Robin Hood maybe. Then we turned and Anna felt sick. Back at Hexham. We asked what we owed him. He said nothing and returned to his cafe shyly. He was a worn, quiet and friendly man. He even offered a drive back to Newcastle because he was going there. We thanked no and bought Becks beer from a supermarket. In the train we cheered our good luck and thanked Andrea(girl) for the efficiency of her sad eyes. Back in the ,now dark, Newcastle we continued our sight-seeing. We walked along the river and came to the Baltic museum of modern art. We entered and there certainly were some very powerful things. One floor about violence was scary. Let the pics show you. Then we walked to a trendy bar and ordered a hamburger. Anna wanted a vegetarian hamburger. The waiter asked do you want onion or bacon in it. Hm, the hamburgers were OK but the chips a bit cold. One beer more and we were tired. We walked with the train met the others jumped on the train and talked on our way home about DDR, love and future trips. We took a taxi back and said bye. It was a very enjoyable trip again. They are some very good people to travel with. It is about as hard to find good travel companions as finding a wife. I consider myself very lucky.
24 I charged my batteries for Newcastle.
23 On Friday the worst weather so far, of that I know, hit Glasgow. It was rainy and cold and it was going horizontally and didn´t fall to the ground. Me, Samuel, Andrea, Marco and Fernando decided to go out. We went to the Bow. Met Anna, Rafael and Italians. I put toilet paper in my ears. A ska band was playing. Box turned 11 years that evening and it was celebrated with cake. From there Fernando, Samuel and I continued to the Beat Club. It was a shit hole and we left and walked home in the harsh weather, if you can say so
22 I dont want to know. I read Henry James - The American. The end was thrilling and the book good.
21 I dont know. I finished the book.
20 On Thursday Akbar made an experiment in class. Everyone should write down the biggest problem in international law, then switch papers and write down the solution for the problem(you didn´t know the problem) Then switch again and write down the problem with the solution. After he read all the series we understood that the international law debate follows a pattern, as all debates, and by knowing the language you can argue very well pretty much anything. So much more of the day has not stayed in my memory. I didn´t go to Primary.
19 I attended the lectures from 11-15. So far I have been on every single lecture so far. I rested until the literature society began. It was a lecture about Engels and the History of Ireland. It was interesting and a lot of new facts about Ireland were presented for me. Two girls constantly giggled. And one member fell asleep and was the main attraction of the evening. After the lecture I talked with some members and some members did reply as well. I walked home with Rafael from Brazil and Rosamund from Liverpool and one other English girl name I can´t remember or I don´t know. We exchanged knowledge. Finnish and Swedish traded for posh English. It´s not cricket!
18 This day, Sunday, I might very well have been resting my soul.
