Ding Dong

The days just gone have been quieter and more reflective than usual. Also I wait. Today was an exception.

26.2 Today I woke up nine, but it took me almost an hour to get up. It was a nice morning. After breakfast I played some guitar whilst I was waiting for my computer to get charged. I walked to uni in severe gales and hard rain. At uni I walked to floor ten. And studied from 1pm - 6pm. I met Suzi, Elisabeta and one whos name I forgot. At 6 I had a random look at ticketmaste.co.uk and found tickets to the Editors. I tried to call Conrad, but couldn't reach him. I packed my things and took the elevator down and run home in the rain as fast I could. I met Marco, Andrea, Iva and Sara on the way but hadn't time to talk. At 61 my lungs almost exploded. I ran up the stairs. Opened my computer and logged on ticketmaster. It was slow. Tickets had just been released today. With a beating hearth I tried over and over. I managed to get quite far, but didn't manage to pass a Visa Verification! Annoyed like hell I ran to Conrad with card and laptop. We managed to get through the queue, and got ONE ticket, with his card. Apparently it was the last ticket I got, because it was impossible to buy more. Relieved I breathed normally. I am going to see thte Editors! Amazing!

I walked home the 10 meters and rejoiced one more. What a wonder! The tickets were sold out before Christmas. And this Saturday we have the Jack Penate concert and the We are scientists HMV gig. Conrad and me have also tickets for The Subways. I am thinking to get tickets for the Supergrass and the Pigeon Detectives, though it might have sold out. But Editors! AH!

I fried red oninon, fresh chilli pepper, green pepper and boiled rice. I ate a light delicious meal; burnt vegetables with rice. No, it was delicious. For dessert chocolate and a mango. After that I corrected Samuel's Erasmus report, with him. It was hard work and we finished around 11. I played some guitar to relax and drank a cup of tea. Now I am here.

25.2 Yesterday, Monday I woke up around 9. I walked to uni with my neighbour George. In the EU class I was told it was the last class we were going to have. I was surprised and relieved. I prefer the other courses I have, although the EU has also been very good. I attended and after that I walked to the stair building and attended the politics of labour law. After the seminar I walked to the QM in rain. QM was cold and I had a chicken meal baguet and a Tango with the days Guardian. I met Elisabeta in the stairs and she invited our flat to taste her home made Tiramisu. After, I walked to the main library and borrowed Diderot - La Religieuse in French and a book in French Grammar. I started preparing myself also for the research essay in politics of labour law. At 6:30 I walked home and had hamburgers and a mozzarella tomato salad.

At nine we walked to her flat. I tasted the Tiramisu. It was delicious but they said it would be better if made with Italian ingredients. After the Tiramisu, Maria, Elisabetas flatmate gave us an Indonesian delicacy to taste, dried cow bones. It was surprising! Then I drank some real Indonesian Roibos? tea. We amused ourselves by looking at the neighbouring flat standing in the rain because there was a fire alarm in their bloc. I danced in the dark with the blue lights creating the disco feeling. I spilled tea in my lap. We walked home, me with a bit wet trousers.

At the flat we played guitar and sang songs. We also made some art.

24.2 Sunday I walked to uni a bit later after listening to a great show on BBC 2, Sunday morning love songs. It is depressing. At uni I revised for my EU and labour law seminars. I walked home and had a mozzarella salad with bread crumbs, and enjoyed a fruit salad with bananas, apples and mango for desert. I watched the film Collateral and went to sleep. I didn't go to Uisge Beta for enjoying live music.

23.2 Saturday At 7 I walked to the Mitchell Library and the entered the Mitchell theatre. There was Ica, Sara, Ivan, Alessia and Elisa. Loik arrived a bit later. I enjoyed the show and saw Iva and Stephanie performing. It was nice, but I am not the greatest friend of modern US pop dance. I am not saying it wasn't good. The more ethnical performances were amazing and the music was thrilling. From there we all walked together home. On the way they bought pizza from Nisa. I was going to go with them but on the way I met Clara and her French friend, Zoe?. We walked to the Ben Nevis and had a pint and I lectured about history from 1800 to now. We also discussed Frenchness and political satire in France and André Gide. From there we walked to 27 B for a party. I met Natasha, a French International lawyer doing the same course as I do and a Czech girl doing the same EU course as me. I was there only until one and walked home and discussed with Samuel.

22.2 I was at uni for quite some time I remember, although I went there late. Friday I prepared a dinner for me a Samuel. A creamy vegetable sauce with rice. We ate too much. So when we walked to the party at 72 maybe, we didn't manage to stand up but had to sit down. Marco and Andrea arrived but left soon for Cheesy pop. 30 mins later we walked home.

21.2 Thursday I attended the International law seminar. I walked home with Fabien. At the flat I rested and had dinner. Then we sang together some guitar classics like Delilah, Wonderwall, Moonlight shadow and American Pie. We were ready for Primary. 6 took a taxi, 60 pence each. Marco and Andrea walked cause there wasn't enough space. At Primary I was in not the best of moods so I walked home with Fernando, Iva and Samuel around 12. Iva drank a cup of tea with cake and nutella. And I borrowed some CDs to her.

When all projects merged into one big cause, larger than anything else Elias had experienced before... And what happened after.

18.2 - Today was again a sunny day. I woke up nine after a night of nightmares. They were not scary but I remember I moved around in my be a lot. I ate breakfast and read some for the EU seminar. The seminar was ok. The teachers were, as always, arguing when they teaching together. So the final triumphant opinion or view is impossible to know. We got our essays. I got a C2 and was disappointed. It's satisfactory, but I don't like it. I have to arrange and appointment to discuss the mark. From there I walked to the stair building. The labour law seminar was not held due illness. I studied for a while in the Law workshop. Anyway I don't have much for this week to read. I walked to the QM and bought a copy of The Guardian for 30p. I met two Greeks on the stairs and talked for a while. From there I headed to the benches on the uni hill. I read my paper and there met Kirsty. I talked for a while and then walked home. I ate lunch after some guitar playing. Then Marco, Fernando, Samuel and me talked for a while. Since then I have been in my room taking care of social matters.

12.2 Was a day of hard studies. I studied for the International Law. I started with the articles. In the evening I watched the Blood Diamond(It was horrific) and red some lovely poems from the "En poet kan man hitta". It's written by Swedish-speaking children from a school in the West of Finland. Frida and Nathalie gave it to me.

13.2 Was a also a day of hard studies. I continued with my interesting articles about how lawyers perceive globalisation, in comparison to social sciences and economics.

14.2 On Thursday I had my normal lecture in International law. After the lecture everyone except Fernando walked to Lidl. We bought stuff. Two hours later we came back. At 10 we walked to primary. I socialised some flowers from Kelvingrove park and gave them away not to be prosecuted. After the Primary me, Fernando, Asko and a whole lot of Spanish people walked to the Art School. A club I've never been to. It was great. There I met the Greek people and an American girl. I walked home with Fernando in the middle of the night.

15.2 The heating was not working this morning. My room was cold. I got up and spent the day doing something I forgot. I went to Cheesy Pop and it was as bad as always. I walked home before everyone else.

16.2 On Saturday I hanged around and talked with my family. At 5 we and Marco walked to the city centre and I bought a guitar. It was a great guitar, first I tried two very bad ones. Later that evening Clara and her two French friends came to our flat with Iva. Conrad came also. We had a agreeable and civilised night.

17.2 On Sunday Uishge Beta I studied for my Monday courses and played footbool in the park. I scored a lot but we lost. I went with Clara and her French friends and Mathieu to the Uisge Beta(?) There I mate some film-makers. We listened to live music and it was nice.

20. 2 Hello! again. I saved the earlier stuff as a draft and here is more. Today, I should have studied, but I didn't. Anyhow I have done meaningful stuff. I woke up 10 and had breakfast. I re-read an article for Thursday lecture and played guitar. I continued to uni after my lunch of tomato soup and bread with pate and cucumber. At uni I collected some stuff for the EU course and picked up my EU-essay. I walked to the library and was supposed to read more articles for tomorrow. I didn't and studied guitar-boogie videos on Youtube and translated Swedish poems into English. The poems were written by children from 6- 12 year old children in a Swedish school. Frida and Nathalie gave me the book. At 5:30 I walked home and made fresh home made hamburgers. After I had a tea and recited the poems I was going to read.

At 8:05 I arrived to The Tchai Ovna. I told Robbie and Tom I had stuff to read. I was the third to read for the audience of 20 people. I was nervous but not insanely nervous. I read my four or five poems first in Swedish and then my translations. That is how I made my world premiere in poetry reciting. I am proud of this. Now I only have to start writing my own stuff.

I walked home via the Goat to see if my flatmates were there. I didn't see them so I walked home. Now is now.

19.2 Tuesday. I woke up 9 and ate breakfast and did some choirs. Clara called me and five minutes I was outside waiting for them. So Anaelle, Annie, Clara and me walked to the Botanic Gardens. It was a cold and crisp morning. We had a look at the green houses and the squirrels. Then we hurried home because their plane was leaving. I said good bye and returned home. I recorded music until four. Then Conrad came to my room and we left for the Carling Academy on the South Side. We were going to buy tickets for the Editors concert. The ticket office was closed so we walked to the ticket office in the central station. The gigs were sold out. We walked from there via Sainsburys to uni. We met Iva on the way. At uni we attended a lesson about the challenges Africa is facing in the 21st century. I provoked one professor. That is always good. One of the speakers gave us a bottle of wine. We walked home, that is Raul, a Finnish girl, Conrad and me. I ate a sallad with mozzarella and the other vegetables, hehe. Then I watched the Blood Diamond for the second time and wrote an email and went to sleep.

Now I am going to the Goat the see Clara and the Crew.

Stars in Glasgow

 Edinburgh, Castle Square

A lovely period has taken place in Glasgow. It has been truly great. I have done so many things in such a short period. Today I have had the chance to recover from that period.

11-2 Monday. I woke up today to my alarm clock at 9. I was tired. I ate breakfast for the first time alone since Tuesday. I had to dark toasts with ham, a cup of tea and a glass of juice. At 10:15 I walked uni on order to get my paper of the Advocate general's opinion on immigration. I attended the EU lecture from 11-1 and Politics of labour law 1-3. Dr. Woolfson had once more a very inspiring lecture convincing everyone in class. It was about the Piper Alpha(oil rig) catastrophe in which 170 offshore workers died. Mainly because of failing safety arrangements, caused by the corporate greed(maximal revenues vs worker safety). I was angry after the lecture. The oil rig burned up and sank. The people who survived jumped into the North Sea the people who followed the scarce safety instructions were fried. Never has corporate manslaughter been so obviously presented for me. After the lecture I walked to the city library and renewed my one loan. From there I walked to Woolworths and bought paper, fudge and paper clips. I continued to the Uni library and asked them about my adress stop. I can't borrow anything on my own.

6-2 Wednesday. Frida and Nathalie (from here on abbreviated FN) arrived on Wednesday. I slept badly the night before. I walked in the morning to the Central station and waited awhile. I saw the coming and we greeted. It was strange to see them. They don't belong to this environment. We took a cab to Kstreet and showed them my room. We had breakfast, a heavy because they were hungry, me too. Then we walked to the uni and I showed them around the campus. We continued along the Byres Road to the Botanic Gardens. It was humid inside. We continued to the city centre along the Great Western Road. We had a look in a kilt shop. At Sauchiehall Street we had a coffee in Costa. After that we continued in shops. After the shopping it was later and we took a taxi home. We had a good dinner with tortillas. Filled with cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and salad etc.
Then it was night-time. We slept three in my room on beds and floor. Like fish in a can.

7-2 Was Thursday. We had a proper breakfast. Then we inspected the new part of Glasgow. FN didn't like it. An hour later we split up. I walked back home to get my stuff for the next lecture. They walked to the city centre to shop. I attended my lesson and afterwards talked with Fabien and Natasha about the legality of the Kosovo intervention. It was and is not legal. Fabien and me walked home to Kstreet and I called FN. I stayed home and they came home soon. We had dinner. Pasta con bacon and for dessert Camembert and honeydew melon, pears and chocolate and red wine. After that we went to the pub, the Goat, just next door. There we had a pint and walked home and fell asleep. It was not very late.

8-2 Friday. We woke up a bit earlier. We walked to Buchanan Bus station. We took the bus to Edinburgh. In Edinburgh we walked first to the tourist information to get a map. From there we walked to the old side with the castle on the hill. The weather was getting better. Even a bit of sun. We checked the castle, churches and the new parliament house. In between we went to a cafe and had tea and scones with butter and jam. Then we walked to the other side on to the hill. There we had our small lunch pack. The sun was shining and it was warm. Then we walked down on a closed footpath. We walked towards Prince Street etc for shopping. We had a walk and then decided to go to the bus station. The bus left in 5 minutes. We slept in the bus because we were dead. In Glasgow we walked back to Kelvinhaugh Street. We had my delicious hamburgers and then the same dessert as yesterday with bier and wine. We also had a round of Whiskey. From home we first walked to Rafaels Bday and from there to another Bday at 27. Then the whole flat and FN walked to Cheesy Pop. We got in and danced, drank(water) and had fun. At 2 we walked home.

9-2 Saturday. We woke up much later but were woken up by Nathalie's father calling. We didn't mind and got up around 11. We had a breakfast. Then we walked to Kelvingrove art Gallery. Organ music was played, live. It was powerful. There we had a look at the most interesting stuff(my opinion). The room with French Impressionism, Dali and Rembrandt. From there we walked to the heart of the West End and visited some amazing small bohemian shops. We tried to order a table in a good restaurant but it was all booked. We walked to the city centre and had one more cup of coffee, in the same Costa. Then the shopping started and it was too much for me. I sat down in a shop and drew. 45 minutes later, finally, we left the place and bought summer onions and bread. We walked home and ate Spaghetti Carbonara with fruit cocktail. Then tired we watched a film and looked through the pictures taken during the week.

10-2 Sunday. We woke up around 8, had breakfast and FN prepared their luggage. Then we walked to the central station and bought tickets. I entered the train. A couple before departing we said goodbye and hugged. That was that. I left the train and looked at them. The train started moving and they rolled out the station. It was over and I walked to the apple store and had a look at Logic Studio. Then I walked home and hanged around, played a good round of football and studied in the library, late. I slept again in my bed.

5-2 I have forgotten. I prepared for Fridas and Nathalies arrival maybe. Now you are up to date. I think I'll prepare something to eat and cannot be bothered to go to the EngLitSoc since there is no lecture.

Hello,
4.2 Today I attended classes in EU law, not so interesting, and Politics labour law, very different, as usual. The EU was all about proportionality. The Labour Law was held by a sociologist Charles Woolfers. He had been present during the occupation of the Caterpillar plant in Uddingston, outside Glasgow. It was amazing. He showed us video footage from the occupation, picture from the Clydesdale ship workers and their strike. The unions were strong. It was so encouraging to see a such a strong force of labour competing with the prerogatives of management and a multinational corporation. The plant was eventually closed, but it's was somewhat of a victory anyway. The lecturer was magnificently different and amusing. So different to the grey law stuff.

From there I walked home. But first I picked up my Labour Law diagnostic essay. B2 was the mark on a scale from A1,2,3,4,5 B,1,2,3 C 1,2,3 D,1,2,3. So I was OK. Like 3 in Finland I suppose. I walked home and ate pesto and cheddar pasta, with yoghurt as dessert. At 6 me and Fernando walked to Lidl. Fernando was smoking Cuban cigars, whilst walking to Lidl. Respect. I asked for a taste and actually tasted. It was the first time I tried Cubanos. My motives to do that were clear. So many famous intellectuals and writers have also tasted. So I tasted. It was like being a teenager. How great. But, I was did not like the taste, it was not appalling but nor great. My interest in them have not been teased. I will not try again, so, don't worry mamma.

In Lidl we spent an hour. My flatmates influence me. I bought Nutella. That is the final stage of integration, I guess. I bought for 55 p and we ordered a taxi. Of course our shopping includes cigars and taxi, and Lidl. At home I stuffed in everything. Under my bed and in my cupboards. Then I prepared a salad with mozzarella, olives and the rest. I watched the Bourne Supremacy and now I am sitting here. Excited Frida and Natahalie will be here, the day after tomorrow. I had not time for the film-making society to attend "directing actors".

3.2 Sunday is a day of rest. What did I do? I walked to the library at 12 with Marco. In Marco we met Sara. We read. They had left when I finally managed to detach from my literature about the union action in Glasgow. By the way, Glasgow university is the best university in Scotland since it is the one leaning the most to the left. I read and returned the book at 2 p.m., since it was a short loan. I continued reading the book until Greg came and tool it from me. I had just finished it. In the library I met a Swedish girl, Rebecca. She studies law. But that is not what she is interesting for. She told me her grandfather was from Vasa. I was surprised. She told me she had been swimming in the same waters as me, because her father was stingy, and she had to wash herself. I left the library and ate noodles with onions and peppers. I watched the film Million Dollar Baby. It was sad. Two drops from my right eye slid down my cheek. It was a very good film.

2.2 Saturday, I woke up around 11. I found the book I needed for Monday. A librarian helped me, but she didn't find it. I found it on my own. I studied in the library until six. I walked home and quickly ate hamburgers. Then I walked to Tescos and bought cider. With the cider I walked to 53 C. Andrea and Blandine were preparing creps. I ate a lot with nutella, crisps, bananas, apples, cheese and ham. Then cookies and this with "traditional" cider a la Bretagne. I was tired that evening, so we walked back early.

 Bon Courage, Elias.
This I saw

1.2 Friday. I studied the day at uni. I don't remeber for how long. Eventually I returned from the Library and had dinner. At 8:30-9 I walked to 53 F, to Julia's birthday party. I was there until 10:30. From there I walked to the next party. It was futher away and I took the unusual direction of walking towards the city centre. I haven't walked in that direction for a long time. The party was crowded. 7 or 8 people were living in the flat. I met the film-making crew. I was invited by one of the members. She actually spoke Swedish I realised that night. She is from Lithuania, so I could not know that. A pleasant surprise. At the party I had the chance to meet people from the UK. Fun. Also other interesting people.

31.1 Thursday I had my lecture in International law. As usually it was interesting, but I would like to participate much more. I can't though. Maybe I need to study my things more properly and something else. After that I walked home. I got a text from Blandine. Anais was going to have a birthday dinner at 7:30. Outside it was storming. Blandine, Conrad and me walked and picked up Sibyll and Floren on the way. I had written a poem on a card as usually. The flat was nice and cheaper than student halls. First we were served salad of two variations and then the main course. I don't know the name in French, I have to ask her. It contained potatoes and ham and French cheese. At 11 me, Floren and Conrad walked to the Primary just next doors. There I met the crew. I walked home with Conrad through Kelvingrove Park. It was dark and calm, in contrast to the discussion of course.

30.1 Wednesday I really don't remember. I only know I studied a lot for the next days lecture. I put now some more photos from the burns ball.
