Back to Life in Finland, Manageable, Maybe. Work

Hey, I'll add more pictures soon.

16.6 Monday - Now I have spent 12 days in Finland. I feel today, for the first time since I came back, that I can feel at home in this godforsaken place. I got this feeling, finally, after a dinner with my older brother and his wife in their flat. I prepared the food. I fried minced meat and onion with garlic and peppers. I added cream and a strong Hungarian chili sauce. We ate this with wine, imported to Estonia. Imported by my brother from Estonia when he sailed there. For desert we had melon and icecream with a tip of Thai basil.
After dinner we walked to the sea. There Isak and me had a swim. It was warmer than on the week end in Lammi. After swimming, the cliffs were still warm and balloons were in the air. We walked back home and I walked to a train station through the central park, hah, and listened to Bon Jovi. There was a concert at the Olympic Stadium. I got on the train. At home my father had baked bread. I ate with my parents. Now is this moment. I think I feel home now.

Earlier the same day I worked from 9 - 5. From 5 to 6 me and Helene sat on a bench in front of Kiasma, Museum For Modern Art. We talked and watched the skaters. Then my brother came and me and Isak went to his place for the dinner mentioned above.

15 Sunday - I woke up around 9. I had breakfast. I worked. I emptied with my father the outdoor toilet. It was a summer of faeces. It smells. Then I cut some wood, cleaned stuff, laid the table and took pictures. Around 4 pm everything was ready. 5 the tenants arrived. Pekka, me dad, showed some things and we left. They have it now for two months.

We drove to Tavastehus and walked to a hill with a tower on it. Let the pictures speak. Afterwards we had a look on the castle of Tavastehus. It was buildt by Birger Jarl, leader of the second swedish crusade into Finland. Then we had hamburgers, or me only. No my brother only a cheese burger and Pekka, chips. At home it was nice.

14 Saturday - I wake up to noise, made by my family. I get up and walk to the breakfast table and have a breakfast. After breakfast we set of to Pellavamarkkinat(fin). It's a festival and very traditional and inland Finnish. I feel like a stranger in such circumstances. We walked around and met neighbours from our summer cottage. We bought liquorice, 16 meters and some more stuff. Before the market we visited the church and I bought a pair of white leather shoes. I haggled. Price 30, I paid 25. They were from a second hand shop but they were new. The 2hand shop is ridiculous it's filled with crap that is far overpriced. Outside I tried a spinning bike. Not too good of me, the haggling. We also bought bread and I bought a toothbrush.

We drove home and had lunch, porridge. Then Isak and me went rowing. We rowed far away looking for a river we remembered from our childhood, but couldn't find it. Later we learned it was further away. We sailed home with a sail made of my old old Fila Hoody. At home our cousins were waiting. We were a bit late. We had a BBQ and it was nice. Afterwards they left and we had a sauna. Isak and Jonna left. I went to sleep.

13 Friday - I went to work for nine. I had a strawberry milkshake for dessert. 16:08 I took the train to Esbo and there my parents waited with a car they had hired. I got on and we started to drive towards Lammi, the place where our summer cottage is. I insisted on stopping to eat because I was hungry. We stopped at a McD. I went inside and there were people inside, nobody eating. I asked if it was open. A girl, cleaning the floor said, we are opening tomorrow. We continued and stopped at another place. It was terrible. I thought: Is this Finland. A tired petrol station with truck drivers hanging around. A shop, awfull, small and nothing good inside. I bought a slice of pizza, it was the worst slice of pizza I've had in my life and death.

We continued and I realised once again I hate travelling by car. I fell undignified sitting in such a small box. My father says, A gentleman doesn't sit behind the steering wheel. An hour later we were in Lammi. It was half sunny. I had a look and realised it was nicer than I thought. We unpacked the car and did the things you have to when you arrive. Carry water to the sauna and fill the tanks with water, light a fire in the house and in the sauna. I put some things on the attic. Books, furniture and skies. We went to the sauna and I swam for the first in a lake since last summer. The water was cold, possibly colder than on the Shetlands, St Andrews or Arran. It was cooling freezing.

After we had a light dinner. An hour later Isak and Jonna arrived with their new car. They went to the sauna. I was tired after a week of work and it felt nice to sleep. The bed was a bit hard but I didn't mind at all.

12 Thursday - work. I made some music, I think and packed my bag for Lammi.

11 Wednesday - I was working. After work I finally got my travel card now I can travell us much as I want in and around Helsinki, also home. I went home and prepared delicious hamburgers. After the eating me and Titus went to Helsinki and listened to a concert arranged by the Swedish embassy. We heard Håkan Hellström and Sahara Hotnights. I met Jesse again and it was nice.

10 Tuesday - work. After work I biked to Porkala, 20 km from home. I emptied our rowing boat and cleaned it. After I had a swim in the sea. It was a bit cold. I Biked home in a heavy shower. In the evening I spoke with Maria. Skype is working!

9 Monday - I woke up around 7. I was fast in the morning and got on the train 7:40. I had some time before my first day starting at 9. I helped two women where to hand in their tax cards. At 9 I was at the library. There I got my ID:s, cards and keys. I ordered my tax card as well, and I received it today on the mail. I met my boss and I dined with him. I dined in the old building. I can't remember what I ate. After dinner I was from 12:30 to 15:30 I was taking care of customers. In general I will not go into specifics of my job since a librarian must keep quiet about customers etc. I also met old work friends, Jenni. I also met the other summer worker, Jonas. He is nice. I went jogging for 40 mins.

8.6 Sunday - Later that day I went to Helsinki. I met Helene, Jan and Sebastian for the first time. I met Helene on the train station and we walked to a pizza resturant, we have named Trance Pizzerian. It's playing trance 247 and the pizzas are around 5 euros. There we met Jan and Sebastian arrived a bit later. I had a pizza with ham and pineapple. From there we walked to Sebastian to inspect his new flat. We had icecream on the way. In the flat we had a look on his pictures from his Florida trip. An hour later we took the trame to the station and I ran to the train and caught it and travelled home. At home I had first sauna since Christmas. My brother joined me.
