Now the sun shines
Today the sun shines for the first time since I returned to Glasgow. Neither did I have many sunny days back in Finland. So I enjoy the heat on my left shoulder.
Yesterday, 15.1, I had a very long and rewarding day. I woke up late, 10:15. And I went to sleep 12, so I slept 10 hours. I ate breakfast and walked to uni. At uni I started with my essay, which is difficult, though I think I am getting somewhere now. It´s about how to reduce carbon emissions in Latin America and Western Europe according to the political realist theory and the transnational legal process. If anyone has some good points that should be made please let me know.
I studied from 1 to 5. The Law workshop closes 5. I studied Environment law in old USSR countries, Soviet Studies. The university bell rang occasionally. At five, just before closing, I found a very good book about carbon emissions.
I walked home and had dinner with Samuel. I watched Simpson took my coat and walked via Uni to Hillhead to a flat for a Film making society evening. On the way I bought oranges, bread and bier. A so called project night was held. People introduced their projects to others and people who were interested could sign up for crew or cast. A lot of interesting things were going on. One film about a man who is going to commit suicide, adaptions of fairy tales, a story about a tramp and a student and so on. I didn't talk about my project cause it´s a one mans thing. I signed up for some crew and some acting. I am going to be a father in a Latvian fairy tale.
We sat in the flat from 7:30 to 11. The end was hard work. But it was a nice place with vintage instruments and cosy sofas. Even pizza was served(one). We were about 15, with five girls and the rest boys. The film industry, yea, is male dominated. I walked home.
At home There was a small social event. Clara, Sara, Matthieu(?), Elisa and who's name I cant remember were at the flat, eating crisps, sponge sandwiches and drinking Lambrusco. I had jam sandwiches and a plate of musli. We had a chat and then, at 1 it was time to sleep. I think I slept at two o'clock.
Today is today. The day the sun shines. I am going to the stall to sell tickets at 12 o´clock for the Burns Ball. I have to leave in 5 mins.
14.1 I woke up late, again, around 1o. I walked in rain to QM. On the way I met Sara, who was looking for her umbrella and asked if I was bisexual. Perplexed and with a hole in the shoe I walked to QM. With a wet foot I arrived at the stall and started selling tickets. We had a discussion about architecture and literature, of course. At 1:30 I left. At the Main library I looked for books about my essay topic. I found one excellent about Hobbes and political realism. I made some notes I later realised I lost. From there I walked home. After a pasta Pesto lunch I walked just next door to meet Conrad. We walked to Glasgow city center. I ploughed through several shoe shops. I found a nice pair for 7 or 8 pounds. I wasn't sure. After trying I thought yes. In the queue I changed my mind. I put them back and walked out.
At another store I found a pair 7 times more expensive. I bought them and I am still happy. Real vintage stuff. I will melt in at the Southside if it is the place that rumours tell.
We continued to a Mac store. There I consulted a specialist about Logic Studio and Express. I have found Studio for a reasonable price. From there we walked to a bookshop and Conrad bought a guide. We walked back and stopped at a pub for a shopping pint, something I've never heard of before. We don't have shopping pints in Finland. We walked then home. I showed my shoes for my flatmates. Fernando didn't like them. I had dinner and went after talking to sleep.
13.1 I started my studies. I stayed at uni for quite some time. After studies I walked to Iceland. Did some shopping. Iceland was like Tesco. No bread nor milk. It's like a socialist country, Conrad commented. He evidenced the same. Capitalism doesn't work. From there I walked home. At the flat there were guests. Andrea was preparing a dinner. I helped out. The dinner was ready. Eating were Suzy, Lynne, Angela, Eleonora, Salvatore, Blandine and the rest of our flat. The first for were people I didn't know very well. We ate good paste with fish eggs from Sardinia. Then we ate tuna sallad. We talked about the Pope, marriage and stereotypes of Scots. After dinner Samuel, Blandine and me started dancing. We lit candles and went crazy. Around 1 I was tired and went to sleep. The last guests left at 3:30. I slept sweetly at the time they left.
12.1 Saturaday I can't remember. I was home the whole day I think.
11.1 I still continued on my essay and managed to finish it. It consists of a lot of very broad statements and I don't know if the use of authority is good enough. Luckily, it's only a diagnostic essay. After dinner Fernando and I went to the Goat. A pub just nearby. Marco and Andrea were there already with Salvatore, Suzy, Lynne, Angela and Eleonora. We were there until 12 and then walked home. It was frosty.
10.1 I continued on my labour essay and it started flowing. I wrote for the whole day. Around 9 everyone except Fernando started off. We met Clara on the way to The Primary. I thought I would meet a lot of new exchange students but didn't. The place quieter that usual, maybe because of the exams. I met old friends and it was nice to see them again after a one month break.
9.1 I started with my labour essay. It was hard in the beginning. I started and couldn't get anywhere. I asked help from my teacher and a fellow native student. I went home, ate and slept, I think.
Today 16.1 I did the ticket selling. Then I walked to the Law work shop and continued my fight with the next essay which is about international law. I am going to the first Don't eat the Mic in 15 min.
